How do you engage young people in finance, when it often seems boring or too complex? The “ImpactFin” project has found an answer: by developing sustainable financial literacy through gamified educational tools.
Vytautas Magnus university (Lithuania) team was responsible for Working Package 3. We hosted the C1 Activity in Kaunas, where we trained partners from Greece, Spain, and Cyprus on how to organize hackathons. During their visit, they also joined one of our hackathon events and experienced first-hand how ideas can be turned into practical solutions.
Later, partners applied these skills in their home countries – Lithuania, Cyprus, Greece, and Spain – where project hackathons were organized. Students worked on innovative educational tools, based on previously defined learning objectives that addressed sustainable financial literacy gaps among young people. Each country selected one winning team.
The winning teams met again in Greece during C2 Activity, where they tested their tools together and exchanged experiences. This was not only a valuable learning process but also an intercultural collaboration experience.
The project concluded with Multiplier Events in all partner countries, where results were shared with a wider audience – youth, teachers, and education stakeholders. The response was inspiring: young people showed great interest, and teachers expressed readiness to integrate these tools into their classes.
This project proved that financial literacy can be engaging, creative, and impactful. We clearly see the potential to continue this work and expand it to reach even more learners in the future.
